Xtreme Hobbies is home to a scale 1/8 mile track using Trik Trax' most up-to-date timing system. The race track is made of MDF wood and is topped with a painted, then lightly sanded suface including it's 20 feet of shut down. The main power wires are #4 which in turn feeds one hundred #10 wire taps to the braid! The track is wall mounted and is finished off with a message readout board. All of which add up to being one of the quickest Trik Trax timed 1/8 mile tracks there is! The track is housed in an 1800 ft building that in the summer months becomes more of a performance car/ drag car build and tuneup shop. Ron Macfarlane and Ian Hill are the co-owners of Xtreme Hobbies and in 1998 set out to build a "pre-race-day" test and tune track. With the closing of Niagara Slot Car Raceway about a year later, and then Toronto's RaceWorls removing their drag track, Xtreme became the only slotcar track within about a 3 hour drive.
The track has just had it first major updates completed. We have removed the battaries and are running off 2 "BULLDOG" 75 amp power supply supported by two 1 ferrad capasitors. The starting tree has also been updated with new wiring and LED lights.
